Abstract
Hippotherapy originates in ancient Greece and through time has evolved into an evidence-based practice for occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech & language pathologists (AHA, 2020a). Hippotherapy uses horses as a modality to promote clients in achieving therapeutic goals. Through large amounts of neuromotor inputs, therapists are able to facilitate functional outcomes (AHA, 2020b).
The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the latency effect hippotherapy may have on children through the observations of their caregivers. A better understanding of the amount of time the effects on function brought on through the use of hippotherapy could provide a definition of best practices and recommended frequency of this treatment method.
1. What are the temporal effects of hippotherapy on participants?
2. How does hippotherapy impact behavioral needs in participants
