Abstract
Aquatic therapy has been a therapeutic modality since 2400 B.C and offers multisystem physiological effects including cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, immune, gastrointestinal, and more. The aquatic environment offers buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, resistance, and drag force to ease engagement and recovery. Individuals have a higher rate of participation in aquatic therapy compared to on-land therapy, although referral rates are low due to the existing perceptions and insufficient awareness of the benefits.
