Abstract
Overview:
Caring for a child with Autism presents challenges that not only impact the life of the individual with the disorder, but their caregiver as well. With the steadily rising rates of Autism, there is a considerable demand to acknowledge the challenges families face and to develop a platform to educate and support caregivers.
Objective:
Purpose: To develop and implement a 6-week virtual caregiver support group designed to educate and support the families at Ocean State Academy Learning Center as a QA Project.
Hypothesis: Caregivers will report increased knowledge, parenting efficacy, confidence, and social/community support. Additionally, the education provided within the support group will lead to improved daily function in children with Autism.
