Abstract
As the globe warms and icecaps melt, the rising sea levels encroach upon occupied landmass. Simultaneously, the population maintains its steady climb. If these trends continue, it is within reason to anticipate a future housing crisis caused by a sheer lack of landmass. As this day approaches, humans need a solution that does not rely on concrete foundations and timber-framed walls. Named for the mythical lost city, the AtlantiSphere is one such solution. Anchored underwater, a 20-foot-diameter sphere is capable of housing 1-2 able-bodied residents. The floorplan includes all the amenities of a typical apartment, including a full bathroom, bedroom, office, kitchen, and in-unit washer/dryer. Future iterations could accommodate families and residents with disabilities.
