In August 2011, Johnson & Wales University Library received from Brown University Library a collection of travel menus that had originally been donated to Brown by an alumnus, class of 1931, who wished to remain anonymous. The menus represent meals associated with trips taken between 1948-1972 aboard a variety of cruise and steamship lines, as well as at a resort in Canada, a café in Amsterdam, and on a train excursion from New Haven, CT to New York City. Many of the menus have food and beverage selections circled and dining companions noted in longhand. The collection, in addition to being a travelogue of a single individual whose identity remains a mystery, represents a slice of mid-20th century history in relation to the food service, graphic design, and travel/tourism industries.

Johnson & Wales University Library is indebted to the Brown University Library for its generous donation.
