Description

The majority of Americans consume excessive amounts of sugar daily, unaware of its addictive properties. According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Americans consume approximately 120 lbs of sugar per year, a 50% increase from 1950, high intakes such that the US National Library of Medicine considers a risk factor for diabetes. (Rippe 2016) In fact, Americans are ten times more likely to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes than they were 10 years ago. (CDC 2018) At this point, we must ask: How did we get here?
